How To Measure For Blinds

Our premium Roman Blinds are crafted using high-quality Roman Blind Tape, which securely holds the fibreglass rod essential for creating each elegant fold. The blind is reinforced with machine stitching, featuring a single line across its width for enhanced stability and durability. An aluminium bottom bar adds weight, ensuring a sleek, professional appearance.

For those opting for Blackout Lining, it’s important to note that the stitching may result in tiny ‘pin holes’ of light, which is a normal characteristic of this type of blind.

Essential Measuring Tips

Always use a metal tape measure for accuracy, as fabric or plastic tapes can stretch and lead to measurement errors. Before placing your order, contact us to check stock levels, ensuring timely delivery of your custom Roman blinds.

It will be necessary to fit the blind outside the recess if:

  • The recess is less than 7.5cm [3″] deep (to ensure the blind clears the handles)
  • The window is not straight ie. The width or height varies by more than 2.5cm [1″] (to avoid too much light seeping through)
  • The window opens inwards

MEASURING FOR AN INSIDE RECESS ROMAN BLIND

To be sure of the best possible fit, take time to measure your window carefully.

Measuring the width

Measure the width of your window recess from wall to wall. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement. This measurement is called ‘Inside Recess’ (See Fig. 1). A small deduction (1.5cm) for clearance will be taken off the width by us from your supplied measurements to ensure your blind can operate smoothly and fit within the recess.

Measuring the drop

Measure the height of your window recess from top to sill. Take measurements at three different points just in case your window is not square and write down the smallest measurement.
